Course Outline:

Written evidence is vital: good written evidence promotes early settlement of civil cases and success in criminal cases.

This course assists delegates to understand what is required from statements or reports in order to improve their credibility, structure and style. Delegates will consider the source and weight of evidence to be included and will practise drafting statements or reports with clarity and objectivity.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Identifying the issues and including facts that support these issues
  • Identifying the source and weight of evidence
  • Using records and notes as the basis for the statements/reports
  • Apply appropriate layout and formalities
  • Use of exhibits/appendices/photos/plans/maps
  • Developing an objective and critical eye in relation to written evidence
  • Insulating written evidence against scrutiny

  • Duration: 1 day
  • Public course format and fee: Virtual | £295 + VAT
  • In-house course format and fee: Virtual or face-to-face | Call for details
  • Qualification: Can be taken as part of APCIP (Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice) – Course fee does not include assessment or registration fee* needed to take the qualification. This has to be purchased separately to training

 

*To enrol on the APCIP programme, there is a registration fee with ICA of £360 + VAT per candidate. This non-refundable fee is payable up front at the time of booking your first module. You can book the programme one module at a time. The fee includes:

- Registration with ICA

- Marking fees for the 4 assessments

- Assessment board meeting

- Award of the certificate
