Course Outline:
This training is designed to give practical guidance to those who may face situations of conflict and aggression when conducting their professional role.
This course is designed to impart the necessary understanding for attendees to be able to effectively prepare for potential situations of aggression, to understand communication triggers to conflict, recognise behaviour indicative of conflict, and implement effective management strategies to diffuse difficult situations.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Understand what helps and inhibits communication, and improving communication skills when dealing with an aggressive situation
- Understand the Betari Box Model and its importance in interacting with others, particularly an aggressive person
- Recognise potentially threatening behaviours or situations and implement de-escalation techniques to diffuse an aggressive situation
- Know how to handle confrontational situations including considering risks
- Understand situational awareness, potential barriers to situational awareness, and how it can be improved
- How to report an incident
