This course provides a comprehensive update on recent case law, policy developments, and the forthcoming Mental Health Act 2025 reforms. It is designed to support Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) in updating their current practice while anticipating how incoming reforms will affect their future roles.
The morning session delivers a summary of the most significant legal judgments from the last 12–24 months, detailing the direct practical implications for everyday AMHP practice. The afternoon session focuses on the Mental Health Act 2025. Acknowledging the phased implementation of the Act, this session provides a practical comparison between the current position and forthcoming changes. It clarifies the direction of travel, enabling practitioners to prepare for future operational shifts without getting bogged down in unfinalised implementation details.
