The UK’s largest gathering of expert witnesses is back on Friday 6 November 2026. Attend our annual conference face-to-face at Church House in Westminster or virtually. Last year over 750 experts attended.

You can attend the conference venue in Westminster and benefit from the networking opportunities that this brings.

Alternatively, if your preference is for virtual attendance, then we are live-streaming the event and you will be able to view and interact with the live sessions, engage and connect with other delegates and sponsors via the conference app.

All of the speakers’ talks are being recorded and will be available to virtual and in-person delegates to watch on the conference app after the event.

In the 2025 Bond Solon Expert Witness Survey, 89% respondents answered yes to the question – Do you agree that specific guidance is required for the use of AI by expert witnesses in the UK?

As Deputy Chair of the Civil Justice Council’s Working Group addressing the question of whether rules are needed to govern the use of AI by legal representatives for the preparation of court documents, Mrs Justice Smith’s conference talk will give you a clear and authoritative understanding as to rules governing the proper use of AI when acting as an expert witness. 

10:30 - Redefined Standards for Expert Evidence Post-Horizon

Emma Price, Barrister, 5 Essex Chambers

Volume 1 of the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry was published in July 2025 focusing on the human impact of the scandal and compensation.

Expert witness involvement was extensively examined during the Inquiry, and its final report is expected out later this year.

One legacy of the report will be to improve the work of expert witnesses, and, as Counsel to the Inquiry, Emma will set out the key lessons for experts that were revealed from the Inquiry’s findings.

Dr Marc Bailey, Forensic Science Regulator for England and Wales

The Forensic Science Regulator is responsible for ensuring that the provision of forensic science services across England and Wales meet the highest standards of quality and integrity.

This includes assessing compliance, providing advice to ministers, setting quality standards and ensuring that all forensic science providers adhere to these standards.

Marc’s session will provide an update to those acting as experts in this important field of practice.
