Changes to the way the family court can instruct experts were reflected in Family Procedure Rules on 31 January 2013 and later enshrined in legislation with the Children and Families Act 2014.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Justice funded a project designed to explore the processes by which experts are appointed in light of the new rules and to develop an understanding of the contribution experts make to just and timely decisions in the family court.

Bond Solon is very proud of having helped with this project.

We wish to thank the experts who contributed to this research through the survey and at our Annual Bond Solon Conference 2014. A special thank you must go to the experts who attended the focus groups we hosted.

The results of this study has now been released by the MoJ. Download the full study.
