Bond Solon needs you!

We are currently recruiting for full-time, part-time and freelance trainers, home based with regular travel to our London Whitechapel office. The work is varied, immensely satisfying and a great alternative to your traditional practice as a lawyer.

How are you finding working in the law?

Are you concerned about: burnout, lack of social time, the pressure of hitting hourly targets, demanding clients, thousands of emails...?

Perhaps a change in direction in 2023 would help. How about working with Bond Solon?

Market leader

Bond Solon is perhaps the largest provider of legal training for non-lawyers in the UK. You may be aware that we were the first to provide formal training programmes for expert witnesses and the first to provide independent witness familiarisation sessions for those about to give oral evidence. We also provide extensive training programmes for investigators (both in the private and public sectors) as well as for healthcare professionals and social services. We also deliver training in niche areas such as covert intelligence, emergency planning and complaints handling amongst others. So, there are numerous opportunities waiting for you.

What type of training would you deliver?

We train courses, both on a public and in-house basis, both face-to-face and online. We train all over the UK and frequently abroad. Some are standard programs, whilst others are specifically created for the client. All are delivered to non-lawyers, so you need to be able to communicate legal concepts and good practice to clients in an accessible manner. Courses cover several areas including conducting investigations, gathering evidence, law and procedure, producing written evidence and giving oral evidence. Some courses consist of a half-day input whilst others last several days.

Profile of our trainers

Our trainers include barristers and solicitors who want to continue their practice but train as well; parents who have childcare commitments but are available to train on our half or full-day courses and lawyers who want to take a step back from the rat race but still love the law and want to continue to be involved and make a difference. Generally, we look for lawyers who have over 5 years PQE.

We would train you to become a Bond Solon trainer

Full support and guidance is provided to ensure that you grow and develop as a trainer and enhance your presentation skills.

Qualities we look for in a Bond Solon trainer

Good Lawyer
Firstly, you must be a qualified solicitor or barrister with an excellent cv. In exceptional cases we accept other qualifications. You may not have trained before, but you must be willing and able to learn.

Empathy
You must have the ability to bond with our clients and to communicate on their level. Remember we teach law and law related skills to non lawyers, so you must be able to communicate in plain English.

Creativity
You must be able to motivate our clients by learning and using the creative and inspirational methods of teaching that we use.

Sense of Humour
Law can be a difficult subject for many and a great sense of humour reduces anxiety and improves learning.

Presentation Skills
We expect you to have good presentation skills, although we will help you improve these and encourage you to be passionate and inspirational when you speak. We want lawyers who can lead engaging sessions rather than lecture.

Respectful
We expect you to respect our clients and be committed to helping them understand what they need to know to improve their work.

Process Oriented
All our programmes are carefully designed and we would expect you to follow our systems but put your own personal stamp on your presentations.

Willing to Learn
We want lawyers who are willing to develop, and learn from other trainers and our clients.
